New multiple-building campus will house an emergency department, surgery suite, imaging, patient beds, public spaces, and a clinic.  The holistic sustainable approach for the buildings and site design is based upon the Living Building Challenge 2.0 with a Net Zero philosophy.  The Net Zero ready facility is highlighted by a mechanical system comprising ground source wells, water-to-water heat pumps, radiant heat, chilled beams, four pipe fan coils in the healthcare areas, and natural ventilation in the public and clinic spaces.  The project is being designed using Revit/BIM.

  New Greenfield, energy efficient hospital and medical office building currently under construction (phase 2). Project is a 6-story, 175-bed community hospital with attached medical office building, one level of below grade parking garage, and adjacent central utility plant. Project was designed and constructed using an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) system.  Energy Use Index (EUI) for the hospital is targeted to be 150,000 BTU/SF/YR, with an EnergyStar rating of 75 or better, measured at completion and one year after.

The medical office building and Phase 1 of the hospital are complete and occupied.

New 336 bed critical care tower and new central utility plant being designed to serve the entire campus.

Project includes surgeries, pre- and post-operative support, ICU, and standard patient care spaces; a new emergency department; and features a unique pandemic supply/exhaust system. 

The facility used the Green Guide for Health Care as a basis for a sustainable approach to healthcare design.

Programming, conceptual planning, and design for new pediatric hospital with four acute care units, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as pediatric emergency and diagnostics departments.  Hospital consists of one below grade level, nine floors above grade, and a mechanical penthouse level.  The project used the Green Guide for Health Care as a basis for a sustainable approach to healthcare design.

New nine-story patient care tower with private patient rooms; entrance lobby and drop off area; and emergency, imaging, and surgery departments.  A new central utility plant to serve the hospital is also part of the project.  Project was designed using Revit MEP. This project has achieved LEED-NC Gold certification and has won a citation in the 2011 Modern Healthcare Design Awards.

 Major facility expansion with a new 152 bed patient bed tower with shelled space for 22 additional patient beds, renovation of existing hospital lobby and other spaces, and major central utility plant expansion.  Bed tower includes pediatric unit, intensive care unit, labor and delivery, C-section operating room and NICU.  CWH also won an honorable mention in the 2012 AIA BIM Tap Award program.

New five-story comprehensive cancer center plus an adjacent four-story, 489-car parking structure.  Facility houses clinical spaces and laboratories, and cancer services such as radiation oncology, linear accelerators, medical oncology, and an educational and resource center, as well as other support spaces.

ASHRAE Technology Award-winning standalone ambulatory surgery center, designed with a unique vertical HVAC supply/return/exhaust delivery system to accommodate new operating rooms in a restrictive spatial environment.

Core and shell design, tenant improvements, and energy study for new nine-story medical office building and cancer center, with tenant improvements for the Brain Institute, rehabilitation, urology, treatment rooms, laboratory services, and waiting areas.  Project also included a chiller plant expansion at the north garage.

The project included a new ambulatory care building and the remodel of existing spaces to consolidate the hospital’s 30+ ambulatory clinics into a central location.  In addition, it included an atrium space with a smoke control system, a new high-efficiency chiller and an acoustically designed custom penthouse air handling units.  This project included additional features to accommodate proximity to residential neighborhoods including a low decibel concrete cooling tower.

This project was a 5-story, Level III NICU with space for:  C-Section, LDRP, pediatrics, administration, patient care, medical office space and third party tenant.

Custom package rooftop AHU’s w/volume & pressure controls configured to provide secure access and maintenance in a weather-proof environment.  HVAC distribution is based upon a combination medium/low pressure delivery w/zoned pressure independent, CV terminal units. Fully ducted return air system with separate, dedicated exhaust for toilets, storage, isolation areas, etc.  HVAC distribution supported a unique integration of MEP infrastructure within complex, 5-part structural frame required due to building configuration.

CDi projects with the St Charles Medical Center group span many years and multiple project types such as expansions and renovations to the Bend Campus Cancer Treatment Center, Emergency Department, Ambulatory Service Building, West Tower Expansion, new Heart Center, North Tower Addition, new free-standing Central Utility Plant, new Child Care Center and many other renovations  

Additionally, at the Redmond campus (formerly the Central Oregon Community hospital) CDi Engineers provided the design to support of a new Central Utility Plant, approximately 65,775 SF of newly designed space for Dining, Central Sterile Surgery, Support Services, PACU, OR’s and associated public areas, shell of second floor and new 16-bed Universal Patient Unit on the third floor, as well as 1,620 SF of renovation of existing servery and support of the demolition of the 1957 and 1964 buildings.

The project was also awarded a 2006 ASHE Vista Team Award for New Construction from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.

Renovation and expansion of existing central plant and distribution systems to accommodate hospital growth over the next 30+ years.  A new 3,600-ton chilled water plant with provisions for expansion to 6,000 tons was provided, as well as expansion of the boiler plant with a new 800-BHP firetube steam boiler.  Awards received by this project for its engineering excellence include:  2006 ASHE Vista Team Award for Infrastructure; 2006 Oregon ACEC Grand Engineering Excellence Award; and 2007 ASHRAE Technology Award, First Place - Health Care Facilities, ASHRAE Puget Sound Chapter and ASHRAE Regional.
